Chasing Elbert, Triptych

2023

Created by physically overlapping two 35mm slides in the scanner. The photographs are sourced from my family’s archive. Pictured in this triptych is my grandfather, in an unknown place on one of his trips abroad, sometime in the late ’70s or early ’80s. This body of work symbolizes an internal journey of desire to get to know him better after his passing, by “chasing” him through an abundant archive of photos.

Black-and-white overlap of a harbor town; the artist’s grandfather stands on the quay, boats and hillside houses passing through him.
